LTC Manager problem

I wired up the LTC which is is displaying a reading in ECU manager which seems to be fine, I need to calibrate the LTC to the sensor value but when I open LTC manager it shows 'unable to find UTC communications device'. When I unplug the USB cable and plug it into another USB port on the laptop it shows up in the LTC manager for a split second then dissapears again and goes back to 'unable to find UTC'. This happens everytime I plug then unplug the USB. I have the UTC and its an M800 ecu.
What am I doing wrong ?

Chelspeed,
I did notice your post before and after trying that it didnt make any difference. I can see the sensor flick up for a second on the LTC manager then dissapear again, it just keeps doing that over and over, connect then disconnect.
I have tried different laptops and cables and unplugged everything and updated all the software, I have triple checked all the wiring and its all good.
The only thing I can think of now is that maybe the battery might be low causing the sensor to drop in then out over end over again, I will try putting a booster battery on it tomorow and see what happens, maybe it needs a strong 12+ volts to keep it powered. My voltage was down between 11.9 and 11.1 volts. I'm slowly losing my patience with it :x

are you still having issues?

Have you tried just connecting the LTC to the UTC, and having nothing else on the bus?

Are you sure that you have you CAN Hi and CAN LO wiring around the right way?

Jamie,
Yes tried connecting the UTC to the LTC directly and swapping the can lo high wires around. I've since sent them back to Motec to have a look at as I'm stumped on this one, my guess is a faulty UTC connection.
Thanks for the ideas anyway.

ECU manager must be closed if you want to play with LTC manager.

Really ?
I can't remember if I tried closing it consciously but that could be a possibility, will it cause it to connect and then disconnect continuously if ecu manager is open at the same time ?
There is nothing in the manual about this nor any recommendation from motec themselves to try this. I will look like a right plonker if that's all it was

Yes!
If ECU manager is still running you can't connect to the LTC. Confirmed!

Mazi,
Can you describe what happens when you try to connect ? Does it just not work or do you get the sensor dropping in and out like my symptoms ? Thanks for your help.

The same symptoms like yours. Short blink in the first row at apx 1Hz but no way to connect it. When I close down ECU manager it starts to work. It is normal situation in windows world. Only one program can handle one device at once. UTC is not a printer with spool software somewhere behind :)
