Looking at fitting LS coils to a 302W with M84.
What model would be the best, LS1, 2, 3, 7 etc ??
Can I gang two together for waste spark straight from the ECU ??
Does anyone have the setup details for the coils (wiring & valves) ??

Whatever is most easily available. They are all very good coils. The favoured D585 truck coils seem to be harder to get hold of these days.
After that I think the square D510C are preferred and then the D514A after that.

Sidenote, do not buy from a seller Evalero1 on ebay, he sells cheap chinese copies that will fail within minutes.

Yes you can fire them as wasted spark by pairing the ecu outputs.

Just google "LS2 coil pinout" on google or google images. There is plenty of information on their wiring.

As for specific Motec values...not sure.

These coils require a 5v signal to charge, and when this is removed they fire. falling edge. Dwell time would typically be 4ms.
Some may allow more, but 4ms is usually plenty for most applications.

Agree on the Chinese copies; they have a terrible reputation.

Also be aware that some of the LS type coils dont work well with the Motec ignition expander - so if you are going to use an IEX as part of the install or maybe even thinking that about one as a future upgrade option then it would pay to confirm your options with Motec before commiting. I'm pretty sure it is the LS2 coils that dont like the long dwell that the IEX outputs at cranking RPM.

As far as I know that would be correct.

Just to confirm wiring up wasted spark, if the firing order was 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
I would connect
Ign1 to coils 1 & 6
Ign2 to coild 3 & 5
Ign3 to coils 7 & 4
Ign4 to coils 2 & 8

Correct as long as ignition outputs fire in the order listed, 1, 2, 3, 4.
