Hi all, I thought id throw this up as an idea.
Would it be possable/feasible to use 4 late model bike CDI units (one for each ign output on m800) to run coil on plugs off a cbr honda?
And would a system like this cope on a boosted aplication?

Thanks, Simon.

This may work but would really depend on the type of coil/CDI combination you are talking about. We would need some more detailed information of exactly what you are using to be able to advise you on this.

Thanks Ross,
I did a bit more homework on this today and found out that the coil on plugs (cbr600) that i have are not CDI compatable. Time for a rethink.

Yamaha R7 1999/2000 model
and Yamaha R6 2004/5 model coils are CDI compatable.

What CDI units are you thinking of running?

I asked exactly the same question to some Motorcycle Ignition companies in Melbourne.
The response I got was that all the CDI units found standard on bikes have a built in Advance Curve.
I got told the only CDI units that would be suitable would be the HRC unit used on the RC45's , good luck finding one of those.

I did all the same investigating and ended up buying a Motec CDI....

Do you want a CDI unit/s (as the subject line states), or do you want coils to run off a CDi unit????

Built in ignition curve.. That would make the motec ign map look a bit wierd to compensate for that!

Ive just purchased some secondhand Diamond coil on plugs. I can run them directly from the M800 ignition outputs.
So ive given away the CDI option for now. Unless the diamond coils prove not up to the task.
