IEX issues

We are running an M48 with an expander for a 6 cyl wasted spark setup. The ECU software is set to 3 coils, mode 100. the crip is 485 with a test advance of 20deg.

THe expander is getting 12V once the starter button is applied(from the relay) and the ground is good. THere is no real output voltage from the IEX to the igniters. What should the measure voltage be from the IEX? Also, the M48 seems to have a contant 12Vdc into the IEX, is this correct?

TIA

Hi,

When the engine is stopped you should see 0v on the m48 ign output to the IEX and also 0v on the IEX outputs to the igniters when measuring with reference to batt neg.

The encoded signals from the ECU ignition output and trigger signals from the IEX are very small in pulse width so do not show up if just measuring voltage with a multimeter at cranking speeds, you might see a small voltage change tho. You need to use an oscilloscope to see the signals properly.

A constant 12v from the m48 ign output is incorrect. Check the wiring and settings are set to the drawing you can find here http://motec.com.au/filedownload.php/a02.pdf?docid=1194
