CDI/8 DROPPED 2 CYLINDERS

Postby Gturbo on Mon Aug 04, 2008 3:17 am

Installed PDM & also rewired car to tidy up the wiring to M800
I have been frantically trying to work through this issue with no luck, CDI8 doing something really strange!
Running 4 Mercury Coils
It runs ok for the first 5mins then intermittently seemed to stop firing number one cylinder..Now i have also lost number 2 Cylinder...
3 and 4 Plugs have Colour, 1 & 2 Plugs are Wet.
Diagnostics are as follows
Swapped the leads & spark plugs
Swapped over coils
Checked all Grounds & connections
Swapped over the injectors & test firing
Compression test
Zero Error messages reported by M800 besides the Lambda as not enough time to warm up
The only other changes i have made to the setup is go to the flywheel for the reference pick up instead of dizzy .. But still use dizzy for sync pulse & showing (50% Sync Status). (There are 2 ref points on the flywheel) changed the setting in the ECU to reflect changes as you would..CRIP seems to be spot on
I don’t know what else to check. Something is telling me that the CDI/8 is Suspect. Somehow i find this hard to believe

Problem fixed :D ..found that the fuel pump was slowly droppping off in pressure causing a lean condition .
replaced it and Bobs your uncle
