Is there a way to control the SLM brightness other than in the software setup ? Ideally I would like a way to turn down the brightness whilst driving from day into night, I have a potentiometer control for my SDL to adjust backlight so something like this would be perfect.

You can link it to what ever controls your brightness for the SDL, I have mine set up to dim with the park lights.

Set up a table that uses any channel into the SDL to control brightness of the SLM.

If you want, use a 3d table, one axis Backlight brightness, and the other channel the control for the SLM brightness (pot or multi position switch for example). Set up the table so that the slm follows backlight brightness and also the other channel, this way both channels can control its brightness the way you want it to. You can also use timers in it.

Related observation, I had set up a bunch of Yellow's to indicate when the Methanol injection was running at 100%, went out for a drive one night with a buddy and gave it a big squirt on a very dark backroad......

Going quite hard when the SLM lit up like a Christmas tree just about blinding me....

Found out how to have them dim with the park lights the very next day and there was NO boosting on the trip home..

Cant seem to work out how to do it, I havent setup a 3D table before so its a bit confusing. I can get a table up and select some channels but cant really work out what I'm actually doing.

With what do you want to control the SLM brightness?

Hadnt really thought that far ahead I just wanted to see if it was possible to do. I guess having a hi/low switch would work for me unless I can set it up to drive from high to low by pressing one of my existing SDL buttons setup for scroll next or ack alarm for say 5 secoonds or something.

Thanks for everyones help and I have too experienced the blinding intensity of the lights at night at the most inconvinient moment

You can use a timer to dim it slowly over 3seconds or so.


If you want, send me your config, ill add the brightness table to it and send it back to you, then you can test it and let me know.

The SLM Brightness option on the bottom of the SLM setup screen associates the current SLM brightness level to an input, called SLM Brightness.

Once you turn this on, you can assign an AV input to this channel. You can have the AV attached to a dimmer dial, for example, and then you can adjust the brightness with a dimmer dial.

You can also attach it to a digital input with an on/off output. That output can be used in a table to go from one fixed brightness level to another.

There are many ways to do what you are after, depending on how you want it to work.
