Anyone has an idea of how to setup a SLM with a M800 OEM (think it is a WRX78 board) and still comply with Group N rules ?

The easiest way to do this would be to splice in to the communications wire (on the M800) to get CAN-Hi and CAN-Lo. You will then need to find 12V power supply for the SLM.

Alternatively you can pick up CAN from Connector B300 (located under the dash) Pin 1 is CAN-Lo, Pin 6 is CAN-Hi, I would say that it is better to use the communications wire on the ECU though.

Thanx for the reply. Also think that it is a better idea to use the communications wire on the ECU. This is the wire that has a rectangular white connector on one of its ends and goes connected directly into the M800 OEM board and on the other end it is a can connector right ?

BTW how do I setup the parameters on the software so that it works and still I have PC to ECU communication ?

Yes that is correct. The green wire is CAN-Lo and the white wire is CAN-Hi. You can splice in to these wires and connect to the SLM, I would recommend fitting a terminating resistor at the SLM end.
You need to put the settings in to the CAN Setup in ECU Manager, set up one of the CAN sets as SLM Transmit with a CAN Address of 41. Your PC communications will not be affected.

Ross thank your for the reply.

What type of resistor should go at the SLM end, would this go on the CAN-Lo or Can-Hi ?

You need to use a 100 ohm resistor (0.25 Watt). You should refer to the section in the M800 Manual referring to CAN Bus wiring (Appendix J and Appendix K). This details the recommended locations for the resistors and method for wiring.
