PDM 30 Inputs & GM steering column turn signal switch

Hi all,

Looking for help on wiring up my 1970 GM Turn Signal Connector to switched inputs on the PDM30. Attached is the IDIDIT factory wiring guide. The Purple wire normally provides +12V to the steering column switch and power is then distributed to whichever function is activated (left turn, right turn, etc.).

My question is, can I reverse this? Here is my plan. Using the right turn signal as an example. Since there are two output wires for the right turn signal (Royal Blue - Right Front) and (Green - Right Rear) from the column switch, I would use only one of these as an INPUT wire to the PDM. For the PDM Sensor 0V ground I would use the Purple wire (formerly the 12V wire) which would complete the switched circuit in the PDM.

On the Output side, I have separate 8A channels to drive the right front and right rear lamps. Separate because the brake light switch when active will trigger the left & right tail lights.

Thank you in advance!

Neil

I think you have described it correctly, I would test using a ohmmeter to make sure the switches connect as you describe.

Thanks David.

I wired the rear turn signal inputs as mentioned and also wired in a brake pedal switch to a dedicated input and sens 0V input and had a good result. Both turn indicators work as well as the brake lights.

Thank you.
