Minimum power Requirements for Bench programing PDM 16

Postby jhazan on Sat Jul 23, 2022 3:34 am

Hey Everyone,

Very new to motec, can bus, and bench testing motorsport electronics as everything I have used previously was mostly plug and play or had a premade jumper harness to work.

Obviously not the case here and before I spend the time (and money) to build a harness I want to familiarize myself with the software and hardware on the bench.

I have Skimmed most of the supplied PDF and searched all of the key terms I could think of within the PDF and google. Couldnt find what I was looking for so I apologize if it is available somewhere I didn't find.

Per the PDF there are two Batt -, one B+ and two 0V. From my searching the 0V are just supplied grounds for switched inputs and also appears on pin one of the XLR connector (but have read the 0V is unnecessary for UTC connection?) Do I need to ground both grounds to simply power up the unit? I assume I need roughly 12Vs at B+ and ground at Batt- plus the UTC wiring. Am I missing anything else to be able to program this unit on the bench?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Power to the main Batt+ input pin, and then preferably both Batt Ground Pins. You also need to have the CAN pins wired for communications.
