OK Newby try at PDM config..

Postby Clean RC on Wed Jan 09, 2019 1:06 pm

I am new to playing with PDM's, and have not mapped an Ecu in over 20 years. I have a rough config partially done for a Evo that I am working on. Would you guys be willing to look at it and give me Constructive Criticism and not bash an old guy. Im still not sure how to do the logic on a few things such as fuel pumps as main and spare?? Thank You in advance for any help..

Scott.

Hi,

Doesn't look to bad, I have added the M1 CAN messaging into the CAN Inputs, with a couple of extra channels that can be transmitted over CAN from the M1 to control coolant fans and fuel pumps. rather than having physical wires from the M1 to the PDM.

With Outputs 2 and 3, are these the M150 power outputs? and is anything else being powered by them? If it is only the M150, then a single 8A output has enough capacity for the M150

Outputs 2 and 3 are just the three power wires for the M150, I figured it needed more power to drive the DBW motor and the intercooler sprayer pump. Both on the bridged outputs. I also have cooling fans on bridged outputs, just to energize the relays. I have the battery back up wire for the M150 going to the battery power side of the isolator. Thank You again for the help and advice.

Having a look at the logging out of my car, the average current draw on the PDM for my M150 (DBW, Cam Control Injectors and coils off of the same output) is 4.2A over a lap, with Peaks to just over 10A.

The M1 isn't designed to drive pumps directly, so the I/C Sprayer should be through a relay or the PDM.

The Battery Backup pin isn't used (or needed) in the standard M1 firmware, none of the data stored in the M1 needs to have a permanent power supply to maintain the integrity of the data.

Stephan.

Maybe I should have you look at my Firmware package too.. I just have some old maps from an M800 we ran many years ago on a Evo 7..

One thing I have done on my PDM, is to configure ECU output based on master switch input pin, and then "restask" the global "Master Shutdown" based on whether the starter motor is energised. Then I can simply select which outputs are disabled when starting, saves on using up a lot of extra operations / conditions.

Ok could use some help on the wiper set up, not sure where to pin the park switch to?? I have the low speed motor on output 9 pin A2, and the high speed on B-14 another 8a output. when I toggle the keypad on the high speed only works. I have gone threw the pdm manual and the wiper example and still am missing something. Thank You..

Hi,

The Park Switch goes into one of the Input Pins, it doesn't matter which.

I have attached a working wiper control PDM file to this, this is out of my car and it provides intermittent, low and high speed wiping.

Alright, another issue im finding is that I am using the can brake state signal from the M150 to activate the brake lights, and there seems to be a 5~7 sec delay. Is this normal? If so any recommendations on a switch to trigger the brakes from a tilton pedal set?

hi,

I haven't seen a delay like that using the Can Brake State into the PDM from an M1.

If you are in Tune, and the Brake State goes true, it takes 5~7 seconds for the PDM state to change if you are watching it using the Monitor function?
