Newbie with a couple of questions

Hi Everyone,

I am new here, this being my first post. I am based in the UK and am building a GT86 for Time attack. I have bought a M150, PDM 15 and C125 Dash. I have all the connectors, but no looms.

I have a couple of questions..

1. Is there a generic wiring diagram for connection of the PDM and C125?
2. I intend to run a GPR package and Custom Loom. Would I be better off using the GT86 package and GT86 loom? I'm not too sure how much of the MoTeC'86 loom would be redundant?

Thanks for all your help. This has been a major purchase, and I fear I may have bitten off more than I can chew.. though I'm sure we'll all get there together.

Nige

Hi Nige
glad to see you've bought all the right kit!
Have you downloaded the manuals for the PDM
and the C125, they contain a lot of info about wiring especially the PDM one.
The C125 has pins for, analogue voltage for sensors etc,
analogue temps for temps!, switch inputs, speed and digital inputs for ...,
pre-defined templates are available in the software for M1 so relatively
easy to setup.
The PDM has mainly switched inputs and high side outputs and are usually
supplied completely empty so more involved in the initial setup but both
are great units. As a company we manufacture wiring harnesses using MoTeC
systems and have been using the PDM's since 2007 and the C dashes since there
launch. We have extensive knowledge of configuring these devices and making them do
some nice trick things. I'm happy to help with materials, advice or setup.
One of my current projects has 3 x PDM15's, M142, C187 dash and a 15w keypad,
nearly 500 channels but the harness is only 9mm in diameter,
its all in the design! thank god for CANBUS.
Anyway PM me if you need anything

Regards

Steve

Have you been through the webinars. They are great for people just starting out. Note that there also a few extra on the MotecAustralia youtube channel.

Thanks for your help guys. I can see I am going to have a fruitful and long relationship with this forum!!

Where can I download the manuals? I see there is a stick with the dash, but haven't used it yet in case it's a once only download or something??

So, Do I go for the GT86 package and loom or GPR and custom loom??

Hi Nigel,

how much of the original vehicle equipment will you be using?

The GT86 package contains CAN messaging to work with the standard dash, ABS, power steering, immobiliser, etc. The GPR doesn't.

Hi Nigel,

We also have a 86 Engine Swap Package available, this allows for the engine to be changed in the car, but the factory components to remain functional.

If you are retaining the FA20 engine, then I would recommend the Toyota 86 package, as it is based around GPR and has the required information needed to run the car.
