Hi,

I'm currently rebuilding/restoring a 2L Super Touring Car, gonna use a Motec PDM32 for the new electrical work.
At the moment the car uses a Motec M8 Ecu which i would like to keep for now. I will change later on to an M880 but for now I would like to keep the M8 in the car..

Will the PDM work with the M8 or what features will not be available with the PDM32??

Regards,

The PDM will work just fine, but you wont be able to do any of the CAN based data transfers.

so with a Dash, you can log current draw, switch status, voltages etc.
the dash can also send messages to tell the PDM to turn things on and off

with an M8, you can see these values live in PDM manager when plugged in, but the M8 cannot log them.

To get the M8 to tell the PDM what to do, you will have to use AUX outputs. So you can wire the fuel pump output, and any other output that you require to the PDM input. This is how you will have to communicate between the PDM and the ECU.

All information for that you want the PDM to use for control will have to come in via the switch inputs directly into the PDM, either with ECU outputs, multi pole switches, or buttons.

Thanks for the prompt reply Jamie!! Glad it wont be a problem... will upgrade to the M880 at a later stage, but i think for now the M8 will do :)
