Aircon Clutch? What is the purpose of this?
Or do you mean a variable displacement a/c compressor or flow control?

We have an AC Pump that is permantly driven by the engine but the output can be varied by PWM'ing the solenoid. Ok, its not a high current application but using the PDM would reduce the need for external SSRs.
With cabin cooling becoming a requirment in EU sportcar racing AC is being used more in our race applications.

Really? A/C in racecars?

That is great to hear! I have always used A/C where allowed.

I think the ACO ( LeMans, LMS, ALMS etc ) have stated that the cockpit temp (or rather the drivers enviroment )must not be greater than 12C above ambient. Not such an issue for open cockpit LMP2 and LMP1's but far from easy on closed cockpit sports cars and the GT's..... they have raised the horse power allowed for the closed cockpit vehicles over the opens to allow for the compressor pump running. Yet another system on the car to go wrong!!! Argh!
