Do you need UTC adapter to run basic functions

Postby TurboTim on Fri Jul 25, 2025 4:34 am

I have my PDM in my car and I didnt know I needed to order this to configure it but am I able to just command a fuel pump on just through M1? I have a race coming up and I just at least need to be able to turn on a fuel pump I have connected to it. I have the UTC ordered but it wont be delivered until I have to leave.

You need the UTC to configure and fault find the PDM. Assuming the PDM isn't preconfigured it won't do anything until it is configured.

Your Dealer should have advised you on this requirement when you ordered the hardware.

The PDM has no predefined configuration, so it needs to be configured to work. It requires the UTC to communicate as the UTC is powered by the laptop, not the PDM. If we used the M1, for example, as the gateway device to the PDM, and the M1 was powered by the M1, then any time a change was made to the PDM that required a restart then communications would be lost as the power to the M1 would also be reset.
