ACL Questions

Postby TOL on Mon Nov 10, 2008 7:37 am

I would like to bounce a couple of questions off somebody who has experience with the ACL and VIM's.

I have an application into which I could adapt an ACL and two VIM's, in conjunction with my exisitng M800.

The sampling and storage capabilities of the ACL sound great, but I'm unclear as to whether the ACL is capable of analyizing multiple channels of live data and making decisions based upon those and in turn either communicating a message or causing an action?

For example, let's say that I have eight channels of high speed data streaming into the ACL during an event, and I want to look for specific signatures or characteristics in those channels to identify a condition or state of interest, and then either send a message or effect an output to the M800 as part of either an open or closed loop feedback monitoring strategy.

Is this something which can be accomplished with the ACL, or am I better to use some other intelligent ECU onboard? The application that I am thinking of does not lend itself to post analysis of the data.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The ACL software contains a number of calculation functions that you can use to analyse the data that is streamed to it, these include conditions, timers, tables and maths which can all be performed real time. The channels that you generate as a result of the calculations carried out in the ACL can then either be sent via the CAN bus to the M800 or used to operate an output on a device such as a Dash or Expander that is connected to the ACL.

If you download the software from our latest releases webpage http://www.motec.com.au/software/latestreleases/ you can have a look at the all of the functions that are available.
