EDL3 problem

Hi,

I started to work on some race car with EDL3 and Mini Dash Display. ADL3 EDL3 Dash Manager finds EDL3 and it is on the list of connected devices. Problem is that whatever I try to do (Get Configuration for example) I get message "The Dash contains an incompatible firmware version " and after that "The configuration in the Dash is not valid".
Mini Dash Display works alright and values are correct.
I don`t have EDL3 configuration file and also I don`t have wiring harness diagram. In engine ECU I can see what is transmitted over CAN but it would be a lot of work to configure signals directly connected to EDL3.
What can I do to get configuration file from EDL3 and make it work with Dash Manager?

Thank you

What version of ADL3 Dash Manager are you using? If you have downloaded the latest version, you should be able to use Online->Update Device Firmware... To update the EDL3 to compatible firmware so that Online->Get Configuration will work.

Alternately you can install older versions of the ADL3 Dash Manager to find one for the version of firmware in the device. Old releases are found here:

I tried latest version and several older. I will try versions I didn't or if that doesn't work I will update firmware with latest software version. I didn't know do I need to upload configuration file after firmware update.

Thank you

The firmware update should be able to update the configuration if it's newer than the firmware in the EDL3. Be sure to check the "Automatically Update the configuration that is in the dash" option on the Online->Update Device Firmware..." window.

But first, why don't you try using "Online->Misscellaneous->Show Serial Number". This will reveal what version of firmware is in the device, then you will know which version of the ADL3 Dash Manager to use, or can verify that your version is newer. With normal ADL3 we never need this as we can read the version info when the device starts up.

With "Online->Miscellaneous->Show Serial Number" I founded that firmware version is V5.20O but there is no such version on old releases download page. I will try to get that software version. If I do not find it I will update firmware.

Thanks

I had another thought. When you download data from the EDL3, there is a copy of the configuration stored in the logged data file. You can usually view this in I2, using Tools->View Device Config...

See if that will open the config in your currently installed dash manager, then do a save as...

I got 5.20O software version from Motec support.
Thank you very much for helping me.
