300 channel limit

Need Max channel limitation lifted on CDL3, SDL3 and ADL3 to keep up with many channels generated by hardware such as GPS, PDMs, LTCs, and Custom ECU CAN templates. One PDM30 alone eats up more than 50% of available channels even though the total throughput of data onto logger is low as most of these channels are only 1Hz

Maybe have a throughput limitation which is the real limiting factor?

I'll second that request, I have noticed ACL has higher limit but maybe the range of dashes
CDL3,SDL3, ADL3 could have a sliding scale of channel limits, 300, 400, 500, then ACL at 700,
they seem to have various levels of specifications, CAN slots, maths channels etc etc but all
have the same channel limit?
As mentioned its very easy to get to the limit when using multiple MoTeC devices especially
when logging the channels correctly for reliability and perfomance gain, you can never log enough
channels, Ive proved it too many times, as its always the channel you dont log that you need to
analyse!
My next project has M400, 3 x PDM 15's, GPS, CANBUS switch panel, E816 so the SDL3/ADL3
is going to struggle and an ACL alone isnt enough, still need dash inputs and outputs.
Could this be added to the wish list

You should stop spending your customers money on PDM's and spare a thought for us mere mortals who still have to deal with relays and fuses :lol:

You definitely need a PDM in that list..... once you hve used one its impossible to go back to relays and fuses.

On some endurance cars they add tanks to cover the distance and when you have an extra lift pump running you can make it flip between the 2 tanks as soon as one of the pumps start surging, the current tells you that. You can also set up a trip for fuel draining to trip fuel pumps as soon as the tank is empty. Other nice ideas are a start stop button that you can have like most OEMs these days. Be sure to ONLY make it crank when you have the clutch in and/or the brakes activated. Some cars have a neutral switch such as the Subaru. To stop the starter motor you can send RPM to the PDM but it must come from the ECU as the Motec Displays normally sleeps during cranking. If you dont want CAN, just run a AUX output to tell it to stop cranking. If you log currents you can tell a lot of what is going on in the car such as fans and pumps. If you have fuel starvation you can see where the problem is by looking what pumps are starving ie, lift pumps or main fuel pump. Gearbox pumps normally die soon if you turn them on with the Gbox oil too cold if the lines are long to the pump. With the PDM you can pulse the pump when the flow to it is slow. WIth coolant water pumps its normally too late when you remember that the pump is not connected, with a PDM you can know when anything is not drawing current when its suppose to so it can warn you that something is disconnected such as a Oil pump or coolant pump, or even shut the engine down if you choose. Some off road cars have drink pumps in them to pump fluid up from the drink tank to the driver inside his helmet. I also activate this pump in some cases such as RPM limiting true for more than 1s and warning lights for longer than a certain period. If you have a GPS you can also use time or position to turn certain things on such as lights. With a Table in a Dash you can do many things such as make a night condition true to make the PDM turn the lights on by itself in the case of an endurance race. PDMs can also help mechanics to check things like wheel speed sensors on the car by indicating with the indicator lamp on the corner that its reading wheel speed from that sensor when only that wheel is turning. Im sure there are many more ideas people come up with. The flexibility of the PDM makes it so that I log every single channel from it, that's why the CDL3, SDL3, ADL3 needs to keep up with the channel needs that devices such as PDMs create.

Ok now I really want one :shock:
I fear it would be nothing short of a nightmare though trying to splice it into the OEM loom.
Love the GPS based auto nighttime running mode !

Yes, thats correct. Any reason that it is a channel limit instead of a throughput limit?

The channel limit was not decided by throughput and will be investigated further to perhaps implement a higher channel limit.
