CDL3 GPS/Beacon Library is a look up table?

In the video below at 8:00min Mark McCoy Says that you can show up to any track (granted its is listed and has correct coordinates) and without having to change the dash configuration for the beacon to automatically work. This means that it uses the GPS coordinates in the manage venue editor as a look up reference. This also means if my customer or myself goes to multiple tracks in a weekend they/I will not have to change the configuration for the lap time/beacon function will work properly. Is this true and has it been tested or verified? I have been under the impression that the Venue Manager is not a dash reference/look up but is a user Library. I have not had enough time with the dash to actually test if the first above statement is true. Can someone please confirm if this works or not?

Yes, this is true.

MoTeC's current dash range has within it not one start finish line co-ordinate, but a list of venues.

you can now load all of the venue co-ordinates for any track that you may go to up front, and you wont have to change it again.

When you start CDL3 manager, go to edit details.

in the details editor, select venues.

this will show you a list of the currently loaded GPS venue files.

Remove any venues you dont need, add in the ones that you do. We have pre-loaded CDL3 manager with over 300 venues already, so hopefully we have all your venues loaded already.

If you have new details, send them to us, and we can add the venue to our lists...

regards,

Jamie

Hi Jeffrey,

If you have the start/finish line GPS co-ordinates and lap distance for the track, we can add it to the list.

If you run at that track, you can use your data from the first session to determine the GPS coordinates of the start/finish line as well as the track length. After you've run, send the data to MoTeC to help other users.

Hi Jeffrey,

Do you have a GPS generated track map from that circuit? if so, we can get the data from that, otherwise, as much as it would be good to do a world tour and get GPS positions for the start finish line for each track around the world, we have to really on our customers and dealers to provide this information to us to add it into the master file.

If you have GPS into the Dash, then you do not need to use a BR2 for lap timing.

Hi SDean,
I have a GPS-L10 , however,I found it difficult to creat a track map with GPS. The really question is the beacon which we set can't be triggerred every time in the same place .And the track map was drifted in i2 when we ran the race car in the same really track. Was it the problem of GPS or did I make any mistake?

Hi Jeffrey,

Are you able to email the data file to support @ motec.com.au? we can have a look at it for you, and get the data out.
