Have just installed an SDL 3 and have noticed in the old SDL manager there is templates for can set up between the M800 and the SDL, but with SDL3 manager there is nothing.
I cant get the SDL3 to recieve ECU data. does anyone have an SDL3 template i could use as i'm obviously doing something wrong

Hi KNL

I had the same problem with new install of SDL3 software, I found the fix was to install the ADL3 software aswell
then the CAN templates appeared in the menu

Hope this helps

I have struck another issue with installing the SDL3 in a WRX. As I have taken out the original instrument cluster I can not get the Alternator light, oil pressure light or the brake failure/hand brake light to work with the SDL/SLM as they are all linked in the original instrument cluster. The alternator also will not charge as it needs the light to complete the circuit.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can overcome this? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

You can either install a fake bulb, or a resistor between ALT light wire and Ign12v. I prefer the resistor, much neater. You can then wire the light wire to an AT, or AV (just make sure its NOT AV1-4) to the SDL3 and use that to trigger an alternator light channel that you can drive the SLM with.

The handbrake light, oil pressure light must work, im sure. To what pins have you wired them?

Is there a SDC in the car? M800 OEM is also installed right?

Thanks Martin. Would you know what resistor to use?
The car has an M800 gold box in it and the oil pressure light and brake warning light look like they need the Alternator curcuit to be working as per the OEM wiring diagram they have been linked to the ALT curcuit.
No SDC installed.

I think I wired in a 2watt 180 Ohm resistor.

Ohh, they might share a common supply since all are swithched to earth to activate the lights....im sure you would be able to sort it out since you know the problem now.

You can wire the oil light to an AT input and have it trigger a light on you SLM
you can do the same with the Handbrake light.

AT inputs have internal pullups of 1kohm to 5v. Be sure not to go above 15v on an AT input as this will upset all the other inputs too.
