SDL Ethernet connection problem

Postby SMChipTuning on Sat Mar 26, 2011 3:23 am

Hi guys

I have problem with communication between SDL and my notebook.
When I plugin network connector from SDL in notebook,I get IP address:
169.254.88.58
255.255.0.0

In SDL Dash manager/tools/connection settings/add/search I always have blank window.
On Dash, all time I have demo program without background light.

Serial number for dash is 18009-21057
ECU is M84
I use CAN connection between M84 and SDL.

Can someone help me?
Thanks

best regards

sorry about the delay in replying, Can you please let me know what version of SDL3 software you see on the display of you dash when you turn it on, and which version is on the bottom right of the main screen when start up the software.

Keep in mind that the SDL3 is Ethernet comms using IPV6 (not IPV4 so the usual IP address stuff doesnt apply)

The main cause for lack of communication is firewall or anti virus interference.

some anti virus also turns off IPV6 traffic, which is a common problem.

Assuming that you have matching SDL3 versions try turning off / uninstalling your anti virus software, and restart the PC.

I try with few notebook, but I can' get any connection. The wires are checked 5 times.
Can I use some another way to connect SDL to PC (USB,CAN,serial...) ?

When I use cross over cable I get connection but I have no response from SDL.
Antivirus is uninstall form all PC.

Can you send to me my IPv6 address ?

On 4 notebook when I plugin network connector I got nothing,no any change on network status, but with cross over cable I get connection but without recieve package.Only one notebook when I plug in cable get connection on both, same is for normal cable and same for cross over cable but witout recieve package.

Can you write for me step by step configuration PC ethernet network for SDL ?

All PC have gigabite network card with IPv4 and IPv6 support.

Thanks

best regards

My dash is SDL not SDL3,that is problem.

I got user manual from SDL3,now all is OK and I got connection over CAN.

Thanks you

I have done this in my current house but i needed a drill bit 1.8M long to get through the cross-braces half way down the wall. you need heaps of cable and running it alongside power will give you interference/signal loss so keep them apart(you only need 100mm space between them)

I thought that the question was a hacker post?
Similar one in another thread but having no relation to the topic there???.

Gentleman,

These threads are to discuss MoTeC products, not how to set up home networks. Please have that discussion elsewhere so that I do not have to administrate any users.
