CDL3 Problem on Mitsubishi Evo X

Postby Kam on Fri Jul 18, 2025 10:09 pm

Hi,
I'm having an issue with a CDL3 in a Mitsubishi Evolution X,
If the CDL3 connector is in place, I can't connect to the M800 ecu and the Fan is On and when the engine starts/runs the Tacho RPM Needle goes from 1200 rpm to 0, OEM Cluster beeps and this problem stays even if I unplug the 2 CAN Wires from the back of the connector
:(
ECU and Tacho run fine only when I remove the connector from the CDL3
Is the unit defective or I need to upload a certain configuration to get rid of this problem ?

Regards
Kam

Has this ever worked, and it's a new problem?

Or is this a new installation of the CDL3 into the vehicle with an existing M800 installation?

Where did the wiring for the CDL3 come from?

You may need to share your M800 and CDL3 configurations for us to be able to offer any help.

The fan runs on the evo X when the can bus has been taken down.

Is the CAN bus on the CDL3 set to 500k?

If it is set to 1mb, this will be the source of the issue.

That was the exact issue, now set to 500k and problem solved !
The dash reads only "Battery Voltage" and "Oil Pressure" correct, but it doesn't display any values or numbers for everything ECU related like RPM, Gear, Engine Temperature, Air Temperature, Gear ...etc
What could be the issue ?
Thank You

Hi,
Also Solved with a small drawback,
Instead of putting the CAN 0 Data to 1 as per the CDL 3 Manual, changed it to 4 and also put some parameters in Custom Set 1 and suddenly the ECU related data show up and the Engine Temp reads correct.
The only drawback i still see is that "Gear" doesn't read in the middle of the screen and shows an incomplete "0", but it reads correct in the M800 ECU Manager

The OEM Boards require specific CAN Settings in the M800 to have all of the data sent correctly.

I have attached the installation notes for the EVO X.

Thanks Stephen,
I have that document, i wonder why i didn't try those settings...
I'll try them out tomorrow and report back if it works
Also, can i still install a VCS system with the CDL 3 and SLM ?
I wired the CDL 3 Pins 19 and 18 to Pins 91 and 90 to the M800 and Pins 27 and 26 from the CDL 3 to the VCS but unfortunately I can't connect to the VCS using VCS Manager because of VCS Manager Driver Not Working on my Windows 10 64bit laptop..
