Gear Detection Sensor Algorithm?

Postby David Ferguson on Tue Mar 18, 2014 10:06 am

When using an ADL3 and Gear Detection set to the Sensor method -- How exactly is the gear detection done? Are the values entered into the Sensor Value table used as the "center points" for a particular gear? Or are they more of a threshold?

For example, let's say the sensor gear voltages were as follows:

Gear 1 - 1.5V
Gear 0 - 2.0V
Gear 2 - 2.5V
Gear 3 - 3.5V
Gear 4 - 4.5V

What would be the voltage range that would map to Gear 1? Gear 2? Other gears?

Thanks for any insight.

I think they work more as a threshold. Easiest way to setup is just to go into calculations, gear detection, and click on the "read value" to populate the table from each actual gear position. Also filter it to not accept a new value for something like .1 seconds to keep signal noise from messing with the display output.
