Guys,

I have a CDL3 connected in a 07' Mk V GTI with the 2L FSI engine. Previously I have used a Innovate Motorsports OT-2 Wi-fi interface to monitor what is available of the VW's OBD-II bus. When the CDL3 is connected several of the channels including mass air flow, 02-wide band, vehicle speed and several others are missing from the data stream or are "0" which were previously viewable with the OT-2.

Is it an issue of trying to find the correct PID's that VW broadcats and updating those channels?

Does anyone have VW/Audi's PID channel list?

Whilst the supplied template covers the most commonly used channels, not all vehicles will respond to all of these channel requests. If a vehicle does not respond to a given channel request the Dash Logger will simply show zero as the channel value.

CAN OBD2 requires two CAN slots, one for transmit, and one for receive. We have found that there are some variations in CAN addresses, both 11bit and 29bit can be used for the transmit and receive template. Therefore the templates may need to be modified to suit your vehicle.

The OBD2 transmit template can be modified like any other in the CDL3 Manager program:

• Connections / Communications /
• Select ‘OBD2_Tx7DF’ CAN template on Interface 0 Tab.
• Click ‘Edit’ button
• You can change the Base Address but leave 50Hz transmit rate.

The OBD2 Receive template is pre-supplied and should not be altered:

• Connections / Communications /
• Select ‘OBD Service 01 Reply Comp’ CAN template on Interface 0 Tab.
• Click ‘Edit’ button
• You can change the Base Address but leave Fast receive is checked.

IMPORTANT: When the default OBD2 receive template is loaded, all channels will be ticked. This does not mean that valid data will be received on all channels, simply that if data is received it will be correctly handled.

You will need a CANalyser to check what CAN address (PID) the messages are being sent.

Thanks Omar,

I'll look into the CAN Analyzer to decipher what data goes with what address.

Do you have a recommended one? I see there a handful available.

The Ecom Canalyser works fine and I use this quite a bit to figure out the CAN messaging on modern vehicles.

Ive got one of these as well. ( the link refers to what Omar using).

Service of this company is poor. They do not respond to support emails. Once your money is in their account email communication seizes. Product OK, customer service, poor.
