ADL2 GPS dropouts

Postby blackforestracing on Sat Jun 29, 2019 6:34 am

I have a Porsche 997 Cup with an ADL2 which has been having GPS issues. It seems to work fine in the first session of a weekend, then progressively get worse until by mid-day of the second day it stops displaying lap times and recording laps. Initially, the GPS-L10 was on the cowl area at the base of the windshield. I moved it to the roof, but that made no difference. Prior to our last test day I purchased and installed a new GPS-L10, but the result was exactly the same. I have attached a log where it was not working well.

I am just a few miles from MoTeC USA in Mooresville so obtaining any items needed for testing is easy.

It is a bit difficult to tell what is happening from the logging but it looks like the GPS is resetting. My thought would be to check the wiring from the Dash to the GPS plug to make sure it isn't damaged or anything.

I'll do that. Any ideas of further things to log or test if I can't find anything in the dash harness?

Nothing I can specifically think of. I would leave it mounted on the roof if possible. It will give much better results than inside the vehicle, especially if it has a heated windscreen.
