SDL & SLM to M84 connection from scratch

Hi,
I've installed an SDL to an M84 and I'm in the process of setting it up.
First question: How do check to see if the SDL is communicating with the M84 via CAN?
Second Question: SLM setup
I've disabled the SLM communications in the CAN set up by changing the value from 41 to 0. Is this correct?
(I did this by selecting "Adjust," "General setup," "Communications," "CAN Setup" I then selected "SLM CAN Address" and changed the value to zero)
Third Question:
Having plugged into the SDL, I've tried to set up a new display configuration and all I can set up is the RPM. I've tried to select some basic parameters to display such as volts and engine temp but I can't click ok for it to display this value. What am i doing wrong?
I'm new to this so thanks for your patience.
