M800-V3 Gear to ADL

Postby Martin on Sat Nov 08, 2008 12:58 am

Ive got a problem sending the gearposition from an M800 V3 to an ADL. The SDL also use to do that until the "V3.3+" Template was introduced. The only workaround for me at the moment is to send the gearvoltage to the ADL and then doing a second cal in the ADL to display gear.

Am i missing something? Whats the difference between the normal m800 template and the V3.3+ template?

Hi Martin,

Several slight changes were made to the data set 1 ECU datastream in Version 3 software. This included a change to the scaling of the gear channel as you have found, and also changes to incorporate the Left/Right Ground/Drive Speed channels. Please see attached for the ADL Comms Templates for M800 V3.3+, which should be saved into the folder:

C:\Program Files\MoTeC\Dash\Comms Setup

You will find the Gear channel in "MoTeC M800 (V3.3+) Set 1 (alternate)"

Thanks Chris,

I`ve got one more question. Lets say i Copy this template into the specified folder, configure the ADL with my laptop and then deliver it to the customer. If he reconfigures the dash will the template be carried over? As far as i know it should because the template is part of the config, but ive seen before when using another laptop without the template it would display all those channels as "channel not found". This was on a SDL when the PDM templates were not in the latest release yet and i received them from motec to copy into my comms directory.

Thanks

Hi Martin,

Once you configure the ADL, the CAN template will be saved within the configuration, so as long as your customer doesn't change that, it will work fine. He can also save it onto his laptop through the Dash Manager software by going to the "Advanced" section when looking at the CAN template, and clicking "Save As". This will allow the customer to access this comms template for new configurations.

The problem you saw with the PDM templates was due to the master channel list. This is updated every so often with new channels, and installed with SDL/ADL2/ACL Manager. However when you were sent the PDM CAN templates these would have been created from a new master channel list with all the PDM channels added to it, but your copy of Sport Dash Manager was still working off an older master channel list. As a result the software couldn't find the new PDM channels in that list, so it said "Channel Not Found" for each of the channels.
