The maximum throughput of the CAN bus is 1 million bits per second. Each message consisting of 8 bytes of data contains around 110 to 120 bits.
That gives about 66kB/s. We don't run the bus to it's maximum as it can cause problems, and there are also control messages as well as othere devices on the CAN bus that take up space, so in realitity the maximim is around 50kB/s. 8MB of data takes about 2 mins 40 secs at best, so say 3 minutes to be safe.
