MDD at ADL

Postby dawinschie on Thu May 22, 2014 3:19 am

Hi guys,

We are new to MoTeC and have an ADL (EDL) with a MDD in a Porsche 996 GT3 Cup.

This Motec-System is original from a Cup-Porsche build 2002 - we bought it used.

First we upgrade at Motec our EDL to 3.20 U (to use the UTC).
Bevor this upgrade the dash (MDD) looks like the "Lap Display Layout for ADL".
After the upgrade we tried to change this Layout to "Large Numeric" but
something was wrong. Now looks like a Layout we cant find in the MDD-Manual.
Every attempt to change the Layout was useless.

Is it possible to get back? How?
Did we need a newer firmware of the MDD?
Were do we find the firmware version?
Can we get a detailed Manual of this Motec-system?
Is there secondary literature on the market?

Thank you very much in advance.

I dont know much about the MDD, but for manuals, do you have an EDL or MDD user manual?

If not they can be found here http://www.motec.com.au/downloads/downloadmanuals/

Theres the ADL/EDL ones and also MDD one.

Firmware in the MDD can only be upgraded by Motec, i dont know if you need to upgrade the firmware or not, all i know is what the MDD manual says, that MDD firmware V1.18 the ADL must be 3.00M or later.

Edit: ok noticed you said you had a MDD manual.

What does the layout look like?

Its not like one of the 'tuning mode' layouts is it?

The layout looks like a very raw one:
Just the laptime in small letters on the left side.
No additional text. No other data.

I think you will find that the display is locked to what Porsche wanted to display.

@SprinterTRD
Yes, the System was locked to the communication settings
so cant change the Layout
(this is one of the rules in the Porsche Cup)
but know it is unlocked with the upgrade to 3.20 U

@all
Maybe we do mistakes we cant see.
It would be very nice if one can tell - in detail -
what to do to change the display.

From

Get the actual setting from the ADL

Setup everything

to

Send the new setting to the ADL

Thanks

1.18 is old firmware, Return the MDD through a MoTeC dealer to get it upgraded to 1.26

This may help
