CAN protocol used?

As per the topic, what do M800's use?
(I have a Transmission controller that can do a Native PCS, J1939 and TGM.)

I suspect MoTeC have a propriety protocol.

thanks in advance for any info.

Yes we use our own data protocol.
Altho we can read J1939 data using an ADL/2/3, SDL or ACL (not m800).

What do you wish to do with the trans controller?

Thanks for the reply Darren,

Would just cut down on some of the hard wires if I could get the M800 to talk to the Trans controller ie: TPS/Temp/Road speed/Map and so on.

Fair enough.
Is the trans controller configurable in its reception of CAN data at all?

Not really other than check boxes in the J1939 section.

Have been in contact with the PCS owner and he's looking at increasing the CAN bus speed, it's currently 500k am I correct that ours runs at 1000k? (1Mb/sec)

After speaking with Steve T this morning this issue is a non issue as the M800 can't transmit J1939 in anyway.

We can make the details of our CAN protocol available to PCS if they wanted to make a configuration to accept our data stream.

Yes we normally use 1Mbit/s CAN baud rate, tho the m800 can autobaud to 500kbit/s. All our dashes have configurable baud rates of at least 1M, 500k and 250kbit/s. Some of our other CAN devices only work at 1Mbit so it will depend on what else you want to connect on the CAN bus to if you can run at a different speed.

The M800 can transmit a custom set of data in 3 predefined formats, thats as far as it goes.

Unless the trans controller is fairly configurable in its CAN reception it won't receive data from at m800 directly, tho an ADL2/3 could be used to convert the CAN messages as they are fully configurable.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I'll suggest Russ get in touch with you for your CAN protocol details!
