direct fuel injection

Are there already solutions to manage a direct injection petrol engine with a 100 series ECU ? Like the 2.3 turbo from Mazda. Where the injector has to be activated with 100V.

I think Motec Korea lists a driver box for common rail diesel direct injection, so perhaps a driver box for gasoline direct injection exists or is in the works that is compatible with the current line of Motec ECUs. I am sure the Motec staff could elaborate far more than I can.

We are working on a solution for direct injection engines, both gasoline and diesel but this will be a dedicated direct injection ECU rather than an addition to the current ECU. Exact details and timescale for release are not available at this stage but the intention is to have something available next year.

Will it cover the different systems ? I mean like Bosch, Delphi, Denso and Siemens ?
Mazda had a seperate unit to drive the injectors on the diesel common rail and the petrol direct injection.
The engine ECU gave a ground signal to this unit each time it had to activate an injector. So it looked like an indirect injection ECU. In the meantime they integrated this circuit in the engine ECU and the module was abolished.
Is it possible to use this module with an M100 series ECU ?
Anybody tried it before ?

Yes it will cover the different systems.

If the car has a seperate injector driver it may be possible to use this with a Mx00 ECU. I have not tested one of these units but we have customers using the Denso unit which is similar but high side drive. Do you have any wiring information or part numbers for the driver and the injectors? There may be other limitations with using the M800 with the current software for example if you want to do things like multi pulse, and the minimum injection time will be dependant on the ref/sync mode used.

I added the wiring diagram and the explanation how the module works.
This should be able to work with an Mx00 series don't you think ?

Yes this looks like it will work ok. Are you looking at doing an installation on one of these engines? Where are you located?

Hi ElsmoortelG,

Out of what Mazda is this Unit?

Yes we are studying to install an Mx00 on a 2.3 direct injection turbo.
We are located in Belgium.
We want to use it for a year end project/thesis of a masters degree.
First the data out of the original ECU needs to be logged by a ADL2 and then copied in a Mx00.
If that goes wel the idea is to change the diamentions of the turbo and intercooler and slowly test the potential of the engine.

Can you give me some feedback if you think it is possible to log the injection opening time according to engine speed, the injection timing related to TDC and ignition timing related to TDC.

The module origines from a Mazda6 MPS vin GG82L6* serial no above 600001-

I know of 2 Mazda3 Mps`s running as race cars in GroupN. They had endless problems with engine failures (detonation) but only on Cylinder 2 an 3 as far as i know. Im not very familiar with these cars but if you need any specific information ill try and get it for you. Ill be receiving the manual in electronic format soon. (planning to fit Motec Mx00 to the cars in future)
