M800 with 8 channel EGT Module

Postby nick303 on Wed Apr 03, 2024 8:43 pm

Good morning,
We have Volvo B5254 engine running with an M800. We are now in need to trim the fuel in each cylinder for fine tuning. We installed EGT's to each cylinder and have an AEM 8 channel EGT module (PN 30-2224). This communicates by Can Bus with other ECU's. We attempted to call AEM for the details of the CAN BUS address etc. but no help was availed. Has anyone gone through this issue or is aware if there is any solution please.

Did you try the manufacturer website? AEM is part of Holley group, so tech support will be poor.

https://documents.aemelectronics.com/te ... ctions.pdf

That document from the AEM webpage has the can bus protocols. I believe that you will need to receive the data in a Motec dash or logger, then transmit it to the M800 in a format it understands.

Looking through the data sheet, the AEM unit uses 29bit CAN ID's, which the Mx00 doesn't support. These would need to be read by a Dash and then retransmitted into the M800.

According to the document, there should be a dbc file available for the messaging out of the EGT module, if this can be obtained from AEM, you could then import it into the Dash.

Hi Again,

Holley (AEM) have sent me the DBC file for the egt controller. Is it a matter of just importing it to the dash manager or its more complicated.

Sorry for my questions as I am not very confident with Can comms.

Hi,

Which Dash do you have? The colour dash have a DBC import function in the Communications setup window that should directly import the dbc file. An older monochrome dash will need to have the data entered manually.
