Auto tune feature?

Postby Jaga on Tue Jun 27, 2023 12:24 am

I have the m800 with v12 engine which is running pretty rich. Is there any auto tune feature which would slowly adjust the fuel map over time to bring the running lambda values in line with the lambda aim table?

Hi,

There is closed loop lambda control in the Mx00 series of ECU's, but this does not make changes to the Fuel Main table, it only applies trims based on the difference between the measured lambda and the Lambda Aim table at that point in time.

Thanks for the reply Stephen, I am working with Jaga on this. I am new to the build, and motec ecus.
Would it be accurate to assume the Quick Lambda feature and use of the Copy + Right would give us a permanent change to the fuel table granted only to the cells we had 'on site or target' during that drive cycle? (1)
If we apply the quick lambda setting as above and save the config file does it run continuously on subsequent drive cycles? (2)
I do not any time monitoring the parameters whilst connected yet, and might see for myself, the only target quick lambda has is the Aim table? (3)

Does Quick lambda have limits to the amount of change or does it continue until target?(4)

I am reviewing the parameters set by the builder and would appreciate input:
Firing order setup Cylinder 1 is set to "0". Does this have reference else where.
The injection timing is 360 a 500 rpm and tapers to 185 at 4000 rpm, I realize this has a huge effect on the fuel table.
Would there be a reason for setting the idle speed "0".

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

Using Quick Lambda in the Fuel Main table will make a change to the full table based on the difference between the measured Lambda and the value set in the Adjust | Functions | Lambda Control | Lambda Table. By default it will make a step of 80% of the difference between the actual and aim on each press of the Q key. The ECU will then run on these changes until they are changed again or the ECU is reset without a save being done. The changes must be saved to make the changes permanent.

The Firing Order setup in the Hundred series ECU's does not effect the operation of the ECU, the ECU is wired to the injectors and coils in firing order. What the Firing Order table does is provide a "Human Compatible" name to the Injection and Ignition outputs, so that if you, for example, want to make a trim to Cylinder 2, instead of having to recall which output is wired to Cylinder 2, the ECU Manager puts a label on the output to show which one it is connected to.

The Injection timing needs to be tuned for each engine to optimise the fuel delivery, this is usually done on a dyno by holding the engine at various load points and then moving the timing up and down until the lambda goes the richest. This normally results in a window of a number of degrees, so use a value in the middle.

Only if the Idle Speed Control hasn't been enabled.
