Subaru EJ25(2011) Swapped Impreza WRX STi V8(2004) NO SYNC

Postby Kam on Fri Jul 08, 2022 7:47 am

Hi,
I have a Subaru WRX STi V8 USDM (MY2004) Vehicle fitted with a Plug and Play MoTeC M800 (5 Plugs), but the engine is transplanted from a Subaru MY2011 2.5L;
It doesn’t have the front Camshaft (Sync) sensor, only the 2 rear camshaft position sensors
I get a REF Signal on Cranking and RPM, but no SYNC and no REF/SYNC indicator :evil:
The two rear Camshaft Position Sensors are of Hall Type 3 Wire
Which one should I use as SYNC and how to wire it into the MoTeC ?

Kindly
Thank You
Kam

Hi,

What is the trigger pattern on the crank, it should be the 36-2-2-2 and the Sync (Bank 2 inlet Cam pulley) is a 4-2 pattern. The Cam triggers will be 4 equally spaced teeth. For this to work, you need the Sync pattern to be read by the ECU, the CAM trigger alone will not work.

Thank You SDean,
I don't think this engine has a front cam pulley sensor on it, just the 2 rear sensors
