Using Digital Input to switch an output

Postby mick41zxr on Sun Aug 02, 2020 11:21 pm

Hi,
I am trying to use a motorcycle starter switch to control an output in a M400 to switch a starter relay.
The switch is connected to Digital Input 4, & the solenoid to Aux5.
While I can see the input switching I am having trouble configuring an AUX table to read the digital input.

Did you try just setting the X-axis of the Aux5 table to "Dig 4 Position (Din4Pos)"?

Otherwise, what does your custom calibration table for "Starter Swtich" look like? Does the "Starter Switch" channel indicate the input is switching?

Thanks Dave,
I think that is where I am struggling. While I can see the digital input turning on, I am unsure how define it as an input for the table to read as a sensor.

Michael

Can you attach your ecu config so we can have a proper look please? Also, what part of the world are you in? Cheers.

Sean,
I am in Sydney.
Application is for early 90's Ducati.
Start switch is wired to Dig4, start solenoid is wired to Aux5.
While I can see the switch activating in the sensors page & can control the solenoid by testing outputs I am still having trouble linking the two. I could bypass Motec & connect start switch direct to solenoid I would like to incorporate a clutch and/or sidestand lockout down the track.
Regards,
Michael

I've had a bit of a dabble. Dig 4 is configured under Adjust> Sensor setup> Input setup> User
I can't guarantee it will work as I don't have an ecu at hand to try it on, but it should be close (I hope)
I'll send you a PM as well

Set the AUX output mode to 115

Then select the status number to the one you set the digital input for.

So if you used dig input to be clutch - use that status in the AUX setup

Thanks Sean,
I tried the setup, however the input is still not registering as a sensor, thus not active on the AUX table.
Sprinter,
I have tried what you recommended before while it does work direct as a starter button I have two issues.
It will not allow interaction with another sensor (i.e. clutch lockout or sidestand switch) like the AUX table does. It also pulses the output (AUX5) when M400 pwers up.
I think the issue is in the definition of Digit Input 4 as a Sensor & the calibration required for it.

Michael

What's the start button status with the start button pushed and not pushed. Does it change? I can't recall what's the default for a digi input.

The start button does not change in the status screen.
This is what leads me to think that its in the input definition.
