Interface updates anyone?

Postby mfalah on Sat Sep 08, 2018 10:12 pm

Hello there guys at Motec,
Can poor people with gold boxes get an interface update where the colors do not resemble windows 98 any more? A few darker and transparent skins that dont hurt the eyes if I am staring at data non stop for a few hours? I will be very thanksful. I am not throwing tantrum or complaining, just its out of necessity.

Sincerely,
Falah

Hi Falah,

We will not be making any changes to the Mx00 and M84 managers as development has been halted on that platform.

What if a group buy or something made it happen? I mean most tuners no longer fire the ecu manager they have their own open source thingy and I know those softwares can make these ecus sing really loud.
But some of us cant afford annual fees on those type of software packages. People with new ecus make a joke about the ugly interface when they have a chat with me, this is very shameful when speaking those proefessional tuners endorsing their day to day ecus.

I dont know how to say it, the gold boxes still are very expensive bits of equipment and they are still sold new, seriously at least the background colors should have a an update, they are terrible. At least for my version I am willing to pay development costs as its my day to day thing. Just give it a thought.

No offense.

Hi,

Due to Microsoft withdrawing support for the development system that was used to create the Mx00 ECU Manager, to make a change to the program would require a full rewrite of the program, this would be a 6+ month job for a couple of programmers so it is not going to happen as our focus is on our current and future products.

I would be interested to have some information on these alternative ECU Managers that you mention.

Is there a reason that you still use the Mx00 series of ECU's over the M1?

Hi Sean,
Well I can get back to you regarding the other ecu managers if I am allowed in on the secret but word is nobody uses the motec manager around here anymore, their software is so robust that it can make the ecu do many more things tenfold. For example the pin out structure is out of the world , for example one aux 2 is powering so many as 3 outputs, in real world when trying to give the command to conrol one output with your motec software, things go bezerk. Now vehicle will need new loom where wires will be added specially to each output individually for your program to correctly . otherwise there will be a power surge. May even damage other things otherwise.

Some of these open source ones even make the old dog do new tricks i have seen, its just like driving a brand new Mercedes with just one computer on board.

Why not upgrade to m1, well I am not filth rich, i love my gold box as it does pretty much everything and theres no need for upgrading. Tis like starting from scratch which i am not inclined to, besides mine is fully unlocked and has plethora of features which i have to turn on making you guys rich instead if i bought a new M1.

Just a new interface with group funding will do the job, i can donate 1 grand american upwards for research.
