Sr20DET Anti-lag....HELP

Hi, Im just in the process of making a loom for my SR20'd 200sx(M400 ECU), Id like to know what cables I need to run in to allow Anti-Lag to be added when the cars all set up and running properly....? Also my car uses a standard mechanical throttle cable setup and I dont know if I need some type of actuator etc, to open the throttle when ALS is switched on...? Im not using a Idle controll valve on the engine either.....Any Input would be much appreciated....thanks .
Gary

There are a few options depending on how you want to run the Anti'-Lag and what the car is being used for. You can have the throttle open all the time and control the idle with an RPM limit or you can have a solenoid to open the throttle when the Anti-lag is active. I would at least make allowance for this when you build the loom. The other option would be to convert to DBW throttle.

Hi, Thanks for the advice, it was really helpfull.....The car will be used for some road, drag and circuit driving, I think il use the Open throttle/RPM limit route....But....what system would you recomend using? ...do the other systems have any benefits over the RPM limit method..? If the solenoid or DBW systems are alot better to use then I would consider using one of them instead.
If I use the RPM limit system am I correct in thinking that I turn the Anti-Lag system on with a switch and nail the throttle, the Motec RPM limit sets in, boost rises and when the clutch is released the system reverts to normal operation until the throttle is released(closed)...? Its the first Anti-Lag system I have used on a car so Im still learning.... :D
Thanks Gary

Dear Gary,

I am on same car at moment. Nissan SX with SR 20 DET. I am using idle valve at moment, but if you purchase one of a bit better intake manifold that is available at moment on the market thjen purchase from MoteC one of valve's. That will do for sure. This is my baby! (Billet cranck, 4346 rods and CP piston set, whole 2.2 engine is now on arrival!!) And is not even exspensive!

Cheers Pascal

A lot of wiring did kiss the ground and fly into garbage! ECU power, and few other stuff going trough MoTeC PDM 15!

Pascal.....while Im here, what ignition are u using on your sr20....? do you use stock coil on plug or are you running a CDI....? Im not sure what to use on my car, also im not sure about wiring the standard coils to a motec....? Electrics aint my speciality...... :D
Cheers Gary

Dear Gary,

please check MoTeC web site for newest catalog. Inside is different types of valves.

As for my ginition, i use igniter from Bosch, available trough MoTeC also and coils from hyundai i-VVT. Pritty good combo till now. Cant say for really serious power! Caution please, i do 382 HP on the wheel's. So carefuly about that. Not sure after i go for more that i will still use same coils. try to ask some of guys from forum more about good igniton for 400+ HP. I have also other SR20DET and doing around 420, igniter Bosch and again Hyundai coil's but this time from 2K cc engine. Using my custom build intake manifold and my own turbo with quite a lot of customizations. Rear water cooler, Short duct high flow intercooler and so on. Different water pump, diferent oil pump and few other stuff more.

P.S. Must have ignoter, you know that, right? Cant be wired directly to MoTeC!

Kind regards Pascal

Big Aluminum intercooler intake dominates fron nose, so no space for water cooler. It's on the back!

llo ther on the wall, there is my Bosch igniter. Intake manifold, throtle body, exhaust manifold, intercooler and pritty much all is made in Art of Speed Racing.

Hey Pascal, Nice set up....nice ducting and the inlet manifold looks bad ass, good job. I found a 4 port solenoid boost controller from Turbosmart, think im gonna go for that now. What electric water pump are you using...? I was gonna do the conversion but wasnt sure about cooling issues...? Gary

If the car is street driven I would seriously consider using DBW, it really is the best way.

The low RPM idle is a fuel cut and can be quite noisey and a bit of a pain in the butt when trying to drive around smoothly at slow speeds....unless you like that kind of thing. :)
