Hi,i am from a fsae racing team. These day,we try to use Motec M800 to control 2017 KTM 500 exc-f.But we are stuck with ref/sync problem. The engine has no camshaft position sensor and we added a hall sensor, and the ref sensor is magnetic sensor. There are 17 space evenly small tooth and a big teeth. We have tried mode 2 which has no error shown in the diagnostic errors ,but there were no spark generated from spark plug. And we also tried mode 3 and mode 5 which had shown error no sync error and ref/sync syncronised in diagnostic errors.
So we make a conclusion that we haven't selected the right ref/sync mode.Could anyone have the same experience? Is there a kind of OEM mode suit for 2017 KTM 500exc-f ?Thank you in advance!
PS.Could any one tell me how to attach file?

Your wide tooth is not nearly wide enough based on how much the engine changes speed due to compression (a missing tooth ends up being 3 half-periods wide). You would be far better making equally spaced teeth, and then removing one (if 36 or less) or two (of more than 36) of them.

I think you would learn more from watching at least this webinar -- in the beginning the different types of trigger wheels that can be used is shown.

There are several other ref/sync webinars -- you should watch them all...

David: Thank you for your reply. As far as i know, this kind of crank trigger is not typical missing teeth or additional teeth. So if i need to modify the crank trigger, will it have bad influence on dynamic balance of rotor when i modify it into missing teeth mode?
