M800 - error sync signal and no cam control

Hi all,
I am in the process of converting my BMW E46 to M800 for realtime dyno tuning.
The engine is a straight 6 M52TUB25, dual variable valve timing, knock control, multispark etc.
I have setup the M800 as a piggyback to the factory ECU with all the sensors wired same as the factory.
All the cam/crank sensors are hall, 60-2 crank, single tooth(180deg) on both cams. Intake is the sync.
Intake hall goes high 174deg BTDC, crank gap is 72deg BTDC.
I am getting sporadic error sync signal at idle that lessens as rpm increases.
sometimes there is over rpm alarm and from logs, there is spiking in the rpm when at a constant rpm.
The cam control works for the exhaust cam(feedback and position control)
There is nothing from the intake cam. no angle shown, no response from the cam control.
SyncPos is around 68-70%, SySnPos (deg) always registers 0.0 with no jitter like the exhaust, Din1Pos (deg)
