Enabling an external lambda reader

Kindly list the steps needed to enable an external lambda reader in the data logging software. I have an Innovate LM-1 kit which I connect to the serial port in my laptop.

I assume that most of the folks here got some sort external wideband reader connected, I'd appreciate an answer :(

You will have to wire the LM1 analog output into one of your ECU analog inputs. Lambda with an external controller requires no "enable"
A M*00 wont read a lambda controller directly over RS232 and there is no way to record a device connected to your laptop serial.

Thanks for the useful reply, how would the datalogger interpret the signal coming from the LM1 through the analog input? Would it be normal lambda or AFR readings or do I need to define it some how?

Your ECU would be set up something like this:

In I2, Motec's native unit is Lambda but if you prefer AFR you can change it under channel properties.

Sorry to revive an old post, but I'm at this point again trying to connect an Innovate LM-1 reader to a pnp M800 to log AFR. I did some reading & found the following steps:
Physically connecting the LM1 analog output to any available analog input on the ECU (AV)
More important are the input configuration steps in the ECU manager:
Input source: AV#
Calibration: custom: PLM wide band lambda 3 decimal places
Table: 0.0v = 0.5 lambda
5v = 1.75 lambda
20v = 1.75 lambda
I get the above values by default when choosing the PLM under custom!
I'v read the above steps in an old post by Adam7.
Kindly, verify that the above steps are all correct & let me know in case I'm missing anything.

Hi,

The PLM calibration under the custom is designed for use with our PLM meter, you need to choose the Wide Band Lambda 3 Decimal Places option and build a custom table based on the data supplied by Innovate.

I did program the LM-1 output to 0v = 0.5 lambda & 5v = 1.5 lambda & inserted the same values in the custom table. But the problem is that the ECU isn't seeing any signal from the LM-1 through the analog input!
I'm using a pnp m800 (Evo48).
my settings LA1
Input source AV5 (pin # 78 in the oem ecu)
Logging speed 20
I tried AV7 (pin # 43) to no avail!
Does LA1 require another analog input in order to work?

I'm having the same problem with another analog input device, a knock analyzer box which I also connected to AV6 & got no readings at all (knock voltage).

I'd appreciate any help

By default AV5 is not connected to PIN76, as it is used for the knock system, this is changed by closing link 1 on the board. This should only be done if you are competent with soldering, otherwise you can talk to one of our local dealers about having it done.

Does that apply to all spare analog inputs? How about AV7 & AV8 (pin43 & pin44)?
I need to connect two devices with 0-5v signal, is there usually any connected AV's or do I need to soldier 2 connections on the board anyway?
I'd appreciate your suggestions
