GSXR cam sensors

Postby Sean on Wed Apr 02, 2014 6:58 pm

Hi all, I have read of problems with the earlier standard 2 wire Suzuki cam position sensors with M400. We have one on a GSX based drag bike engine and it seems to be giving us trouble, with an offset signal.
Was wondering what people are using, aftermarket or the later 07 up 3 wire Suzuki sensor?

Hi Sean

I use this one http://www.dataspares.com/sensors-2/cam-sensor-bracket-suzuki-hayabusa-gsxr and it works perfect for many yaers. But this is only one part of the problem. the other part ist the position of the cam pin. The signal come to same time like the missing of the crank. So I decide to change the cam pos about 180 on the other side

regards Thorsrten

PS look at this side it is in german but it shows some intersting things for gsxr and goldboxhttp://www.racebikesonline.de

Thanks Thorsten, had not seen that bracket before, seems like a good idea, will give it a try. Pin position is not a problem in this engine, we are sensing direct off a cam lobe.

This is your site Thorsten? Some interesting things there. What model GSXR is that? I have had K2, 5 and 9 myself :D

What Thorsten says about the cam pin position used to be correct, where the M800 would not sync up when the sync edge was in the missing teeth on the ref input.

This was applicable to mode 7, but there is now a dedicated ref/sync mode which does not require the sync edge to be moved; mode 68.

I'm using mode 7 on a k5 GSXR600 engine on a M400 and a M84.

No engine modifications have been done and it works perfectly

Hi spyro

The gsxr 600k5 is a good old 8Bit ecu engine this is completely different the the 16bit konfiguration of the newer versions. So it can be posibel that in your config everything works fine.

PS I change to Mod 68 and it works fine for me thx Alan
