Hi guys,

I have installed adjustable cam gears on a non- avcs EJ25 Subaru engine and I have altered the cam timing.
Do I have to change the CRIP value?

Thanks!

CRIP is more to do with the crank trigger.

But if there is any doubt, just check ignition timing at the spark plug is the same as commanded on screen.

so what should the crip, crank and ref settings for a ej257 be? there are so many options for subaru in the help section of trigger setup that i am confused.

For the age of Subaru you are referring to, there are only 2 trigger patterns, and basically break down as pre 2001 and post 2001

Exactly what crank and cam wheels are you using though ?

motor is a north american 2004 STI 2.5L. here are some pics of the crank trigger.

the cams are aftermarket Kelfords but i have not taken a picture of them yet.

Throwing USA at that age into the equation changes it again. Does the left hand cylinder head have have the cam sensor on the cam wheel, or does it use the 3 wire sensors at the rear of the cylinder heads ?

Does this engine run, or what exactly is the problem ?

its the 3 wire near the rear of each cylinder head. engine was working ( had it rebuilt and upgraded so it is currently out of the car) with another stand alone ecu, we are currently starting to work on a new wiring harness to install a M400 and want to make sure it gets started with correct settings and sensors wired up.

You're best to email Motec for a base map for that model.

There are variations with the US and rest of world applications, pinouts setup etc. No idea why the USDM models are different though.
