Duplicate redundant ECU modules

Postby RickMuller2004 on Tue Oct 02, 2012 12:20 pm

All,

I am new to the forum and posted here as I saw it as having the best chance of addressing my question. My engine is an LS1. I desire to have redundant ECU's.... that is two ECU's where only one is operational at any given time. This would allow for recovery in the event an ECU fails. Why would one want to take such a conservative approach. The LS1 engine is going into an aircraft. Give it a thought if the ECU quits one's options are clear, but not pleasent :o ... land! The idea is to have a redundant ECU for such an event. If a plug or a coil fails... one can typically limp home on 7 out of 8 jugs running.

I am told that such a dual ECU has been developed by/with Motec systems. Anyone have any input here?
