Start File / Base Map For 2009/11 Yamaha R1

Hello peoples,

As the title says, i'm after Start File / Base Map For 2009/11 Yamaha R1 for my M800 ECU.

Any pointers you can also give me with previous problems you've encounter would be much appreciated as i am a newbe to this and have only made minor alterations to past maps already setup on a bike.

Also, on the 09 onwards R1's the throttle bodies are Drive by wire and there's variable velocity stacks in the airbox, i was thinking that i might do away with the variable velocity stacks and just fit fixed ones instead plus do away with the DBW and have a mechanical linkage between the throttle cables and throttle body butterfly's. Has anyone done this, or do you foresee any problems with this?

Thanks for the feed back.

I have done dyno testing on r1's and the variable intake tract is a benefit in the midrange. I also used to race an 07 R1 very competatively using the Yamaha kit ecu and have a pretty good understanding of them. if youre willing to give up 5 hp in the mid range then leave them on the short side. when closed, using the long tract they DO help HP in the 5000-8000 range.

I currently am using a m600 on one of my racebikes.

I'd personally like DBW setups and if your ecu has the capability of it, I'd keep it and use it.

Are you using this bike for racing ?

Thanks for the info, yes, i'm planning on racing the bike after some time away from the track so essentially the bike i'm building currently is going to be a lot more capable in the right persons hands in till i get up to speed again.

Mechanically i can build a good bike its just the electronic's side that scares me a bit, but part of fun is trying to learn the Motec side. I think at the moment i'm just trying to look for an easy option for myself to get the bike running by doing away with the DBW and variable velocity stacks. At a later date i can then try more advance solutions and get it working as it should.

So, from my understanding, if i do go down the route of setting up the DBW i will also need a DBW4 Expander connected to the M800 ECU to control the throttles? Or not?

Also, as previous, if anyone has a start up file or can tell me where i can get one from it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

You can run it all from your M800 including DBW and Variable intakes.
The M800 will need the DBW upgrade from Motec.

I'd suggest it would be much easier to set up the DBW rather than trying to modify the throttle bodies to manual.

I'll add a base file later today.

Would you also keep the trumpets as they are with the two piece arrangement ?

The trumpets are well worth keeping even if you just run them in the low position for ease of set up.

Thanks for the base file, much appreciated.

Any ideas on what the DBW upgrade cost? I'll speak to Motec anyhow.

Being mechanically minded it looks far easier to me to make the throttle bodies a manual linkage, but no pain no gain and all that, so ill try to figure out the electronics side first and do it properly.

Cheers,

The biggest cost are four analog inputs and AUX1 and AUX2 outputs :D

I think that Motec DBW module is better solution because you will have to use this two aux outputs and another analog input for trumpet motor control anyway.

Is it SBK?

The start file I attached controls both DBW and Trumpets.

DBW is Aux 1 and Aux 2 as Std.

Connect the Trumpets to Aux 7 and Aux 8 and the control is the Aux 3 Table.

Ok, i've spent the past 2 days reading manuals, forum posts, watching web seminars, and trying to understand the ECU manager software by comparing the map from my old bike and the base map for the R1 and feel confident to make a start.

Obviously, I'm a complete novice so please be patient if some of my questions seem a little stupid, there will be more to come... we all have to start somewhere.

So, with the base map, is it a case once the bike is wired correct i just need to calibrate all the sensors, do all the pre checks for error's, then it should be good to go? Are the base maps this complete, i know there will be fine tuning after?

Also, can i use the standard sensors that come on the R1 engine as standard, or do any of these need to be replaced?

My next headache, the wiring loom. I have a Motec loom that was built for a 2007 CBR1000RR SBK, i plan on modifying this to suit the R1, from what i can see, the only additions i need to add is for the DBW and Variable stacks. I also need to make sure the inputs/outputs match up on the new map with the old map.

I've waffled on a little bit, but can you see any issues with what i've said above, or any problems.

Thanks for your help
