Traction control_ignition retard

during traction control whats the safest method ignition retard or ignition cut?

whats your favorite method?

1st I have no idea...

But I would suspect that if you have a cat or a turbo, then retard would be good.
The cut is easier, so I suspect that might have migrated over from "them olden days", when distributors did not allow for retard.

Actually my grandfather drove a Ford Model T, which would allow for that TC scheme.

Use Ignition cut.
Ignition retard is dangerous. The engine can bee damaged of the heat :cry:

I think you need to consider the car, engine, surface and basically how much you need TC to help the driver. For example, if it had WAY too much power for tight corners and you were always in tight corners a general power reduction would probably be a good idea. There have been plenty of cars that have gone faster with less HP.

I am eagerly awaiting the traction control webinar! Where does throttle control come in, assuming you have, or fit, fly by wire throttle?

Swerving a bit off topic, will there come a time when Motec ecus will also cater for ABS control functionality?

Just avoid any kind of ignition cut with a wet manifold...

Was that running wasted spark?

...If so then obviously one of the sparks was not wasted.

Yes it is, and if my Soarer dash comes up with "Danger to the manifold" in Japanese after I fit the M800 to it this weekend at Ian's place I'll be worried!
