Direct injection fuel system

Hi there everyone,
Following the great success we had with our drag Skyline with M800 and CDI8, we will be endeavoring into a new project, this time being a Mazda 6 MPS/Mazdaspeed 6 for track/street use. We want to use motec as an ECU but we wanted to be sure if we'll manage to make the direct injection work properly.
Two questions please.

Has ever anyone tried to run the Mazda 2.3 turbo engine using motec?
Is it possible to run motec and retaining direct injection?

Thanks a lot for you help, Nick

Hi Nick,
Our DI ECU is currently in development. Unfortunately we do not have anything to offer you at this time.

Thanks for the info. Is there any date for when it will be launched or shall we resort to the traditional injectors?

Interesting video.....not too disheartening when you consider that the particular ECU manufacturer doesn't actually have a DI ECU. The engine in the video was run with a normal port injection ECU with an external injector drive, most probably a Toyota unit, done by an external company .....this has been done a few times with MoTeC ECUs but is a fair compromise plus controlling the pump is very hard.....no mention of that in the video so I wonder how accurately it's being done. :)

We currently have engines running quite successfully on a full MoTeC DI ECU with correct control of injectors (no external modules) and correct control of the fuel pump. We will have an engine on our dyno next week....one that we have already had running by the way, maybe I'll video that for everyone. :)

As this is still an R and D program it is not yet ready for general public sale.

Seeing as how so many modern engines are running DI what's the score in the future with backward compatibility of ecu's, will a DI capable Motec ecu also be able to run a conventionally injected engine, or will it ONLY be for DI engines? Thanks.

Bosch Motorsport have DI interface modules on their site for 2000 EUR. HPI 1.1 does 6 cyl

Not sure if it compatible with a Motec ECU.

Looks like that Bosch device could be run from an M800. The is a small amount of info that says it is compatible with standard Low Side injector outputs from an ECU....which is what a Port Injection ECU generally has. Not sure if anyone in the world has tested this though.

As for M1 you will buy either a port injector ECU or an DI ECU. DI injector drives are a lot different from port injector outputs. Theoretically the DI ECU should run port injectors but the ECU will not really be spec'ed to do this and the software will be specific to DI where you have to control the fuel pumps as well.
