HI,I first time here and have a firing order problem with M400 in 4 cly engine. When we test the ign,As I crank the engine it can see the firing order always 1,2,3,4;no matter how to set it in "firing order" window. Can any one tell me why?
Thanks

Sounds like you have wired the ignition outputs in order of cylinders 1-4, instead of in firing order. The firing order window does not change the output sequence. It just sets the individual fuel tables to match the cylinder they are wired to. You may have the injector wiring wrong as well.

Did you do an output test before actually cranking it?
It will be a good practice to test all ignition and injector outputs before trying to crank the engine.

You have to connect injectors (and ignition outputs) in firing order. Check pdf file schematic - uper right corner....

Just for the sake of thread completeness.
The Mx00 series ECU sees its ignition outputs in sequential order
1,2,3,4 (M400), 5,6 (M600), 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 (M800/M880)
This is irrelevant of what you put in the firing order. The firing ordertable is for the tuner to know what ignition output goes to what Cylinder. Nothing more. The ECU will always go through numerical sequence until it reaches the last number then starts again.
ie
ECU ignities IGN 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4............ How you connect those to your motor is dependant on the firing order of the motor.

Ah, good to see you people with good answers, makes my job easier.
Yes, the outputs only ever fire in one order, the firing order setup is just to lable the software for the tuner. Think of the ECUs outputs like a distributor, it alway fires the plug leads in a set order.
You will notice just about everything for the injector and ignition outputs will be named if you fill in the firing order, even in the ignition and injector test screens.
YES, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS DO AN INJECTOR AND IGNITION TEST BEFORE YOU TRY TO START AN ENGINE WITH A NEW INSTALLATION.
