Hi
I am running a ls2 v8 with a M800 in a VS Commodore ute with the std dash.I want to get the std tacho working but
can not see why it wont work.
I am running the STD ls2 coils in wasted spark and engine goes well.I have wired the ing output #6
into the tach on the dash but i get nothing.
I have checked wiring and its all good.
This car used to run a holden 304 v8 with a std ignition system no worrys and it Tacho was hooked
up the - side on the coil and worked fine this way.
Is this something to do with the motec or do i need to add something to the wiring.
Thanks Daniel

I use it here to send the RPM signal to my Trans controller and have used it in the past to run factory Tach's before I got the SDL.

Currently I'm using Ign #6 in mode #4 to drive the tach in of my trans controller (LSx V8 in batch fire)
Not sure what signal the stock Tach is looking for though sorry.

Well the way its set up normally is run just from the - neg side of the coil straight to tacho.
I tryed my dash in another car this afternoon and worked fine so i know
the dash tacho is fine.I checked the wiring in my car as well by hooking the -side coil wire from the other
car to my wiring in the dash and aswell my dash tacho worked fine.
So i am sure this is a motec output thing and would like to know more info as what i would
have to do to fix this. Do i have to put a pull up resistor to 12Volts on the line to work?
HELP
Daniel

Not 100% sure but I thought the MoTeC Tach driver was a 5v square wave output (someone that knows might jump in to confirm)
I had an issue with a Toyota Tach some years ago and ended up taking it to an Instrument shop down here and they tweaked it up to work.
