SYNC ERRORS

Discussion and support for MoTeC's previous generation ECUs.

I have swapped maps for a previous one with no change. I have put 20% and then 30% more fuel in across the map with no change, except tickover was far worse and filled the garage with fumes. I have checked the map sensor which reads what it should and is connected correctly. The fuel regulator is connected correctly. The alternator is charging and showing on the computer. Truck still wont rev above 2500rpm.

Kev, without the ecu configuration file and the ecu logged data (if you're logging it) it's going to be pretty hard to help .

You can post them here, in the same way you posted the .rsc file, that way Stephen can see too.

Thanks guys for all your help. I do appreciate it. After much going round in circles I have found its the Launch control calibration switch. It was on 0 so restricted RPM to 2500. I did let my grandson sit in the truck and maybe he twiddled it. But I have learnt so much whilst looking for this problem. I still have questions though. My truck is for drag racing only. I have found the table which limits RPM to what this table says 1-9. What turns this on and more importantly off. I have no ground speed sensor so the example in the Webinar which says when the vehicle turns off the Launch Control at 50kph or whats on the x axis. I assume its turned on by the trans brake button but cant find where on the ECU this is.

This is very frustrating. You keep asking questions about what is in YOUR configuration file. NONE of us know the answers without looking in your configuration. If you are worried about someone stealing your fuel or ignition map, just make a copy and set those tables to a constant value.

But you need to upload either a Mx00 configuration file, or logged data file (.ld) from from the ECU (it will normally include the ECU configuration in the logged data file).

David, really sorry but I am struggling with computers and the motec jargon, is this what you what you meant by data file? If not could you please elaborate in words of one syllable

Thank you for posting.

The RPM Limit table found in Adjust->General Setup->RPM Limit->Table allows an RPM limit to be varied based on one or two other values (these are the axis channels). To View the axis setup, Right Mouse Click on the table, and choose Axis Setup... from the popup menu (or use the menu Tools->Axis Setup...)

Your current axis setup has the Y axis (that's the vertical one) set to use Oil Pressure. So your table has an RPM limit of 2000 RPM if the Oil Pressure is 200 kPa (29 psi) or less. And it will use your main RPM limit of 7000 RPM (set in Adjust->General Setup->RPM Limit->Setup) since this is less that 10000 found in the table, when the OIl Pressure is approximately 262 kPa (38 psi) or higher. If you don't want this table to be used, I suggest you disable the Y axis, and put in a 0 in the single cell.

Now since you were mentioning launch control, that RPM limit is set in Adjust->Functions->Traction Control->Launch RPM Limit. Be sure to press F1 to read the help for this table. Looking at the table, the axis 0-9, use the Axis Setup... (Right mouse click, or Tools menu) and you will see that this axis is "Launch Pot" (pot is short for potentiometer -- ie, a variable adjustment knob)

Launch Pot has been configured in Adjust->Sensor Setup->Input Setup... under the User tab. It is connected to AV8, and has been custom configured with a table that converts voltages into a number 0-9. So you turn the knob connected to AV8, and the channel Launch Pot (abbreviation LP) changes from 0-9. You can view the current value when connected to the ECU, by using the menu View->View Sensors... (there is also an icon and keyboard shortcut "S"). Launch Pot will appear with the other User channels in middle column, lower group.

If you don't have wheelspeed sensors fitted, I would make sure all Traction Control is disabled by using Adjust->Functions->Traction Control->Setup and changing the first parameter "Slip Calculation Mode" to 0. Again, press the F1 key and read the help for info on how to get this working when you are ready.

Hope that helps.

David, this configuration for launch rpm isn't one I've seen before. I can't really see how it's working.

Based on my understanding, it seems like it should only enter launch mode with the dial in position 0, 1 or 2, given that these are less than 1/4 of the maximum X axis value of 9. I am assuming that the ecu is assessing zero vehicle speed because no speed input is configured.

I can't see anything that would trigger it to leave launch mode, as the x axis values shouldn't be changing. Can you share any insight on what I'm missing here? Thanks, Sean.

EDIT: I see that there's a digital input defined as TC disable. Maybe this is wired through the transbrake button, so that when the brake is released it just disables the whole traction control system. Still can't see how it can enter launch mode above dial 2 though.

EDIT #2: With this config even with the dial on zero I'd expect that the engine should rev way past 2500 to the high limit if throttle position stays less than 15%.
