mazi... how/where do we set up the ECU for high imp injectors?

Hey, Im curently finishing off a built sr with sard top feed rail and low-imp injectors. If you want to go 1000cc injectors u will have to get low-imp anyway i think.....i dont think u can get 1000cc's in high imp..... why dont u just get top feed 1000cc's low-imp injectors and get a re-map...? why did u want to change to high-imp injectors...? low-imp injectors have less lag time compared to high-imp anyway and controll fuel better compared to a big cc high-imp injector.

hi gary,

ideally i would prefer low imp injectors, i was just planning ahead in case the 1000cc ones are only available in high imp cos from the sard website...i only saw high imp top feed 1000cc injectors. but i will look ard and research more :)

also i'm just curious to know IF i had to use high imp injectors...where in the m800 software can i change the settings and how :geek: (yes, call me mr itchy fingers :mrgreen: )

Adjust/General Setup/Fuel/Setup ==>Injector Current = 0

You can see some measurements on SARD 1000 Low impendance injectors here:

Hi, Im pretty sure most injectors over 800cc will be low-imp....i think all sard injectors over 800cc's are low-imp, maybe its a mistake on the website that u'v seen...i done lots of searching a while ago before choosing an injector....go for the low-imp , then u got scope for tuning and a nice smooth idle. good luck

Thanks Mazi and gary :mrgreen:

in the injector setup page.. my m800 is set up as using high imp injectors..BUT when i measured the ohm across the injectors using a multimeter..its low..:p guess i can go ahead and use the sard 1000ccm low imp injectors as direct replacement then. just find it strange that its set up this way...cant we just directly set it up as low in the m800?

also.. mazi.. since u've tested the sard 1000ccm injectors...hehe guess i can just use the info u've gotten when i set mine up...hehe

Probably the best thing to do is check the resistance at the injector itself with the injector unplugged. Next plug the injector back in and unpluge the ECU and measure the resistance between the injector ouput wire and the ECU 12v, if there is no real difference then there is no resistor. I have seen most of the SR and RB type engines with the resistor from the factory but one S13 SR20 DET we have here has high resistance injectors as standard so no resistor. The resistor block is farily obvious on the fire wall if it is there but a check with a multi meter is probably a good idea.

thanks for the heads up mark. just measured my injectors... resistance is 14.4 ohms. will measure the injector output wire and the ecu 12V. btw... IF there is no resistor... then is it 4 wires from ecu to injectors?

Hi there,
If it is 14.4 ohms at the injector (with it unplugged) then I hope there is no resistor. The wires from the ECU outputs should run directly from the ECU to the injector with nothing in them (should be less than 0.5 ohms in the wire itself). And the 12v battery supply should have no resistor in either.
