Alternator control

Postby Blu302 on Wed Aug 18, 2010 5:50 pm

I am looking at using my M800 to control my alternator so i can boost the voltage above its current set point without "tricking it " into thinking the voltage is lower than it actually is with a diode (dropped the sense voltage "fooled it" by 0.7v boosting output by 0.7v) I looked at using one output with "134" in function for PID. What would be starting values for a 4G AU2 falcon alternator? On another note does the signal need to be smooth instead of PWM? Would a smoothing capacitor be sufficient to give an even voltage to the alternator? I don't know if the solid state regulator would be able to "see" the high speed PWM and just turn off and on with the PWM.

Any help appreciated
